I'm sure you need to get the update for the PS3 directly via an Ethernet cable or a wireless router will. If your PC is trying to burn a DVD and the DVD will be updated in the PS3 and see if you have the option to upgrade from a DVD. The USB is also a good idea would work. But it would be much easier if you download only the PS3 online and directly. Good Luck
